Our Plecostomus fish, Walter couldn't keep up with the constant growth of algae. There was to much fish poo and light. That's exactly what the algae needs to grow. We learned that we were overfeeding our fish which caused them to poo a lot more than they should need to. Luckily, we have a garden in need of new fertilizer.
We were gonna look at the algae under the microscope, but our microscopes, were broken. The algae became black and hard when it was out of water. It was growing like normal plants would. We got rid of it, and if we didn't, it would have taken over the whole place. These pictures are what the algae looked like. Walter is working on it.

Wow that is cool that you have the opportunity to study living creatures. I hope you have fun and hopefully I can visit soon to see all of your discoveries.

I love watching fish, its so calming. That sucks about the microscopes, I wish I had a magic wand that would fix them all for you. Algae looks really cool magnified.
